The Constitution of the United States of America

Article III, Section 1

Introduction:

Article III, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution establishes the judicial branch of the federal government. It vests the judicial power of the United States in one Supreme Court and in such inferior courts as Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. This section also provides that judges of both the Supreme and inferior courts hold their offices during good behavior, which effectively means they can serve for life unless they are impeached. Additionally, it ensures that their compensation cannot be diminished during their time in office, thereby protecting judicial independence.
