Introduction:
The 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1933, repealed the 18th Amendment, which had established Prohibition in the United States. Section 1 of the 21st Amendment states that the prohibition of intoxicating liquors is hereby repealed. This amendment effectively ended the nationwide ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages, allowing states to regulate these activities as they see fit.
