The DocForma Summarizer is an AI-based text summarizer developed by Codicopia LLC for use as a research tool by teachers, students, professionals, and casual readers. The tool is very easy to use and consists of three functions: Input, Controls, and Output.

The Input function can accept text from three different sources: a website address, uploading a document from your workstation or mobile device, or simply copying and pasting text into the input field provided. The input function can handle various document types such as PDF files, Word documents, plain text, eBooks, and web pages.

The Controls function allows you to adjust the output quantity by using a slider to increase or decrease it. Slide left to decrease the summarized output, slide right to increase it. The quantity will be set to 10 out of 20 by default. Once you have added your text source to the input field and set the desired quantity level, click the "Summarize" button to start processing. The processing time will vary based on the size and complexity of the document, ranging from seconds to minutes.

The amount of data processing is determined by your subscription, which offers three options to choose from: Introductory (free), Collegiate, and Professional. The Introductory version can handle up to 25 pages of input, while the Collegiate and Professional versions can process as many as 250 or 500 pages, respectively.

The Output function is divided into two tabs: Metadata and Contents. The metadata will show information about the input document, including the title, description, a brief summary, number of pages, words, and sentences in the document, document format, processing duration, and processing time per page.

The Contents tab shows a list of chapter titles found in the document, along with the word count for each chapter. Chapters are created by an AI algorithm and may not match the actual table of contents in the document, if there is one. Instead, the algorithm's advanced code will logically separate the document based on various factors such as header titles, text layout, and other criteria. Chapter titles are displayed as hypertext links, which enable you to navigate the document quickly and easily. When you click on a title, the Summarizer will automatically process the text using generative AI to produce an abstract of the selected chapter. In addition to the abstract, you will find a list of keywords, names, places, and other pronouns that are mentioned in the chapter. You can click on any word or phrase on the page to get more detailed information from Wikipedia and Wiktionary via an interface, or you can ask Pracey, our GPT-trained chatbot, to provide further explanation.

The Summarizer seamlessly integrates with the other DocForma tools. The features include the custom search engine Navigator, Grammar Checker, Paraphraser, Translator, and many others, which we will discuss in upcoming blogs.
